Harald H. Vogt, Founder & Chief Marketer
Harald is the leading Scent Marketing expert that branding executives and manufacturers worldwide call for his expertise and advise. He is considered a skilled matchmaker and networker. Before concentrating on Scent Marketing as an emerging marketing approach, Harald has gathered extensive experience in establishing, building and managing advertising and media-related companies.

With Vogt Communications, he develops market entry strategies for companies seeking representation and distribution in the U.S. and Europe. Former clients include a US-based manufacturer of scent-sampling technology best known for its ScentStrip® and a German firm providing early scent delivery systems. He helped secure venture capital and operate an on-line/off-line print-on demand service both in the U.S. and European markets. He also developed and marketed the concept of advertising on ATM’s, later absorbed by American Express. Harald was a member of the education, outreach and PR team for NASA, Boeing and the participating international space agencies related to the construction of the International Space Station.

Dr. Avery Gilbert
Avery N. Gilbert, Ph.D., Chief Scientist
Avery has worked at the forefront of commercial innovation in the fragrance and consumer products industries for over 20 years. He is a pioneer researcher in the areas of olfactory mental imagery, multisensory correlates of odor perception and the psychological factors that bias odor judgments and has published numerous scientific articles. He is often cited in the media, including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, The New York Times, The Economist and BusinessWeek. He recently published his first book What the Nose Knows: The Science of Scent in Everyday Life (Crown, 2008).

Dr. Gilbert founded the Cranial One Corporation, which manufactured a rapid smell test—the Cranial I Quick Sniff™—for use by physicians and consumer research companies. He previously founded Synesthetics, Inc., a multisensory research and consulting company specializing in the consumer impact of smell. He has also served as President of the Sense of Smell Institute, and VP of sensory research for DigiScents, Inc..

Dr. Gilbert holds an MA in biology and a PhD in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining the private sector, Dr. Gilbert was a faculty member at the Monell Chemical Senses Center. He is a member of the Association for Psychological Science, the Association for Chemoreception Sciences, and the European Chemoreception Research Organization.
